LOWBOY Tractor Trailer
A Lowboy is a semi-trailer with two drops in deck height: one right after the gooseneck and one right before the wheels. This allows the deck to be extremely low compared with other trailers. Lowboys are often used to haul heavy equipment or boats. Lowboy trailers present unique challenges aboard vehicle ferries due to their low clearance.
EXCEPTION: If the Lowboy Trailer can be raised to 15” ground clearance at the midpoint of the Trailer (halfway between the forward trailer axle and the rear tractor axle), our “Non-Lowboy” rates will apply.
