If you’re in the middle of Long Island, what’s the best way to get to New England?

At Cross Sound Ferry, we thought we’d find out for sure.

So we staged a race between Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, and Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, Connecticut.

We sent two identical vans by two contrasting routes – one heading west via I-495 (LIE) on Long Island and I-95 in Connecticut.

And one heading Rte. 27 East towards Orient Point and the 
Cross Sound Ferry.

Our GPS said it should be a fair race, with both vans arriving about the same time, if traffic wasn’t a factor. But was it? And what did the passengers in the two vans have to say?
